mora qualitas streaming service to close on the 29th May 2022 after 3 years of providing a HiRes and CD Quality streaming service in Japan. The service which started in October 2019 is a joint venture between Sony Music and Rhapsody International (now Napster) using their ‘Powered by Napster’ technology.

In a statement on their website (translated via Google) they say, “This service started to be provided in October 2019 and we have endeavoured to deliver the best sound quality including high resolution in the music streaming service, but we will continue to provide services that satisfy our customers. We have come to the conclusion that it is difficult to provide.

We sincerely apologize to our customers for the sudden announcement and the inability to meet their expectations. Thank you for your patronage.”

The site also provides a set of community pages branded ‘mora qualitas story’ and this will close on the 28th January 2022 but customers will still be able to stream music content. To help customers migrate from mora qualitas to another streaming service the site has provided a ‘playlist output tool’ enabling its subscribers to export their playlists/favourites/libraries (My Music in the mobile version app) to a csv file. This facility will be available until the 29th March 2022.
