Radio Paradise (RP) is an internet radio station with ‘a blend of many styles and genres of music, carefully selected and mixed by two real human beings.’ The station was founded by  husband and wife team Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith and is completely ad-free being supported by donations from its loyal listeners and the sale of RP merchandise. Founded in 2000 you will hear modern and classic rock, world music, electronica and even a bit of classical and jazz. RP currently has over 16,000 songs in its active music library and these are stored as lossless FLAC files to maintain the best possible audio fidelity. For a fuller history of the station go here.

Radio Paradise is consistently rated by its listeners as one of the best internet radio stations not only for audio quality but also for its expert music selection.

The streams are delivered by a variety of means – web player, Amazon Alexa devices and WiFi radios and receivers. Apps are available for iOS, Android, Alexa, Sonos, BluOS and Roku devices. Neat features in the apps include the ability to download programmes for offline listening and for the iOS app, integration to Airplay2  compatible devices and Apple CarPlay.

In April 2021, they announced that they had teamed up with BluOS and MQA to provide 24-bit 96kHz HiRes on BluOS enabled hardware such as Bluesound, NAD Electronics, DALI loudspeakers and Monitor Audio. So far, the station is still only broadcasting MQA encoded CD Quality files via BluOS commenting on their Listener Forum that until there is a greater availability of HiRes originals they will continue with 16-bit files.

Audio quality on the web player ranges from low (32k AAC+ through Medium, High, Ultra (320k) right up to CD Quality lossless FLAC and with the recent upgrade – HiRes capable on BluOS devices using MQA technology. A full list of listening links supporting both modern and legacy applications such as Winamp can be found here.

The four CD Quality Lossless FLAC streams are:

Main Mix FLAC (http://stream.radioparadise.com/flac)
Mellow Mix FLAC (http://stream.radioparadise.com/mellow-flac)
Rock Mix FLAC (http://stream.radioparadise.com/rock-flac)
Global Mix FLAC (http://stream.radioparadise.com/global-flac)

These links currently do not currently include stream metadata (song title info) – apparently a limitation of their server software. However in June 2020 they added a series of links with metadata.

As the station says, “The links below include stream metadata (song title info). Like everything about FLAC streaming, this is still somewhat experimental. If you experience an increase in dropouts or glitches, we recommend going back to the main links above.”
