Spotify on Xbox One with Cortana

You can now control Spotify on Xbox One with Cortana which is one of the new features introduced with an improved user interface and a new design. In a blog posting on the Xbox Wire news site, Isabelle Forslund, Spotify Product Marketing Manager describes the new features which have been introduced:

  • an improved user interface making it easier to find the perfect soundtrack
  • recommended music based on your listening
  • integration to Cortana voice commands for seamless control while you play
  • a new ‘razor sharp design’

Using Cortana on Xbox One

Currently only available in the US, simply say “Hey Cortana, play my playlist on Spotify” which allows seamless voice control of your music without taking your fingers off the controller or pausing your play. You can also play, skip and pause songs – all without leaving the game.

The updated experience with Spotify makes accessing your recently played songs, your ‘Made for You’ hub, and your library easier than ever before. Once logged in, Spotify listeners can instantly start the music via the Spotify App in the Xbox One Guide and enjoy additional features like shuffle and repeat.
