Spaniards streamed 62 Bn songs in 2021 an increase of 23% compared to the previous year according to Promusicae, the Spanish recorded music industry association. Streaming represented 85% of the year’s music consumption with 54% being premium subscriptions. 733 artists got their songs streamed in Spain more than 10 million times (161 more artists compared to the year before). 25 of these artists managed 100 million audio streams – 10 more than in 2020.

Sales of physical recorded music increased by 10% due to a 32% increase in vinyl which led to an overall increase in consumption across all formats (digital and physical) of 20% compared to the year before.

Spanish music continues to dominate the Spanish sales charts in 2021. Antón Álvarez’s latest record (better known by most fans as C. Tangana) topped the Top 100 Albums chart with his album El Madrileño in both physical and digital formats. El Madrileño also gets to top position in the first annual vinyl sales chart – Top 100 Vinyl Albums. In the Top 100 Songs chart Porto Rican Rauw Alejandro takes the Number 1 spot with Todo de ti in addition to grabbing 9 platinum awards and getting 6 songs in Top 100 Songs chart.
