YouTube Music now supported on Apple HomePod enabling users to ask Siri to play music from the streamer, or set it as the default when they ask their HomePod to play music.

In a statement published on reddit YouTube Music said, “We’ve officially launched YouTube Music support on Apple HomePod to all Premium and Music Premium members globally. To get started, ensure you have the latest version of the YouTube Music app, then go to Settings > Connected Apps > Connect with HomePod. Once setup is complete, you can say “Hey Siri, play music on YouTube Music” to get a great mix going.

If you set YouTube Music as the default music provider, you no longer have to say “… on YouTube Music” every time. To do this, go to the Home app (on your iOS device) > Settings > Tap username > Tap Default Service and choose YouTube Music.”

YouTube Music is supported on the following Apple HomePod models: Apple HomePod 1st Generation, Apple HomePod 2nd Generation, Apple HomePod Mini.

With YouTube Music on Apple HomePod, you can:

  • Use Siri voice commands or physical touch controls on Apple HomePod to play music
  • Handoff playback between your Apple HomePod and iPhone, and vice versa
  • Control playback in the Apple Home app
