83% of French album sales are locally produced with 166 French productions out of the 200 best-selling albums in the first half of 2021 according to SNEP, the French music industry association. Topping the list was Les Enfoirés with 350,000 album sales followed by SCH and Damso. Young talent figured prominently alongside established artists with 31 young artists achieving a first album in the Top 200, 26 of which were produced in France. This pattern was also reflected in the classical and jazz genres as well as in the ranking of the most listened to titles in audio streaming. The 200 best sellers represent 20% of total album consumption.

In the streaming charts, 13 titles out of the Top 20 were produced in France with 2/3 of the Top 200 being locally produced. The 200 most listened to paid audio streaming titles represent 13% of the number of listeners.

French-speaking radio production also improved in the first half of the year 5 French titles in the TOP 10 (0 in 2020) and 10 out of the 20 best broadcasts (vs 5 in 2019). 43 French-speaking titles ranked in the Top 100 of the best radio broadcasts of the first half year which included 18 newcomers to the charts. With 27 titles ranked in the Top 100, French-speaking titles are the dominant musical genre in this ranking.
