Apple buys classical music streamer Primephonic and the classical music service will be taken offline beginning 7th September 2021. The Primephonic service is no longer available for new subscribers and will be taken offline beginning September 7. With the addition of Primephonic, Apple Music subscribers will get a significantly improved classical music experience beginning with Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio content. In the coming months, Apple Music Classical fans will get a dedicated experience with the best features of Primephonic, including better browsing and search capabilities by composer and by repertoire, detailed displays of classical music metadata, plus new features and benefits.

Apple Music plans to launch a dedicated classical music app next year combining Primephonic’s classical user interface that fans have grown to love with more added features. If you have an active Primephonic subscription you will receive a prorated refund back to the original payment method based on the days left on your subscription. Subscribers will receive an email from Primephonic with more information about their refund, along with a code for 6 months of Apple Music for free (redeemable before 30th November 2021).

Current Primephonic subscribers who take advantage of the free offer will receive six months of Apple Music providing access to hundreds of thousands of classical albums, all in Lossless and high-resolution audio, as well as hundreds of classical albums in Apple Music’s Spatial Audio, with new albums added regularly.
