Craft Brewed Music to launch 1st October

Small batch streaming service

Craft Brewed Music LogoCraft Brewed Music, a curated streaming service for adventurous listeners who want to discover music which is outside the mainstream is set to launch on the 1st October. According to artist manager Brian Horner, Craft Brewed Music is designed to pay artists.

Through direct deals with artists and small labels the company will pay out 50% of its income in royalties – the highest percentage possible while still paying app retailer fees and remaining viable as a company.

The company has taken the craft beer industry as its inspiration with small batches and US terminology to describe its musical offerings. New listeners looking to explore Craft Brewed Music can take advantage of a flight (sampling of beers) which is a free 10-song sampling. A growler (jug used to transport draft beer) costs $5 per month or $50 per year and gives a listener unlimited access to the entire catalogue.

The idea of a specialist streaming services is not new with Idagio and Primephonic offering classical music, the recently launched streamers, Humbolt for Indie music and Aniuta for anime music. Whether these independents can compete with the big five streamers (Amazon Music, Apple Music, DEEZER, Spotify and TIDAL) with their ability to produce an almost limitless number of playlists and radio channels remains to be seen.
