Italian record industry grows 34% in the first half of 2021 with streaming subscriptions growing by 41% in the same period. According to Deloitte data commissioned by FIMI, the Italian recording industry association, streaming subscription growth continues a trend that began in 2020 with a strong general shift of consumers towards subscription services.

After a complex 2020 in terms of access to retail outlets and distribution caused by the pandemic, the physical segment has also returned to growth. In particular, vinyl has been particularly successful with an increase in sales of 189% and has now overtaken CD sales which saw 52% in the first half year.

Revenues from video sales rose by 47.7% during the period.

Figures also confirmed that locally produced Italian music was predominant in the marketplace.
