Chiru was a radio stream broadcasting a mix of Anime and Japanese J-Pop music in a CD Quality lossless FLAC stream. In addition to the FLAC stream there were Opus, OGG, AAC and MP3 streams at varying qualities and unusually the ‘now playing’ banner on the site gave full details of the track including its bitrate and sampling frequency as not every track was CD Quality (16-bit, 44.1kHz). In addition to information regarding previously played tracks there was a chat function allowing listeners to interact with others. There was also a HiRes stream option presumably as a placeholder for when HiRes content became available. [Note: Some of the stream links on the website did not always play via a media player but only via the webplayer.]
