Plex releases two new apps, Plexamp – a rewrite of its media server and Plex Dash – a server administration tool to control your various devices. Plex created Plex Labs just over two years ago to develop new apps and create integrations to 3rd party apps which can build on the Plex platform.

Plexamp version 3.0 is a complete rewrite of its media server and is available on five platforms – iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux. According to Plex, the new server went through 110 beta versions and users will require a subscription to Plex Pass.

Plex Dash is built on top of the same codebase as Plexamp and is a single-purpose app dedicated to server administration. It gives you a way to see all playbacks, even across multiple servers. It also provides a way to help edit your artwork and make your library even lovelier. There are also a range of ‘power tools’ such as scan for new media, fix incorrect matches, check on server resource usage, tweak library settings and view server logs live. Plex have produced a Medium post which gives more details about it many features which can be found here. Plex Dash is available for Plex Pass holders on iOS and Android.

To download these apps go to the appropriate app store (Android, iOS).

Plex are offering their TIDAL+ Plex Pass subscription with a 30-day free trial for £19.9/month giving access to TIDAL’s 60 million CD Quality lossless tracks plus a range of audio and TV features which can be found here.
