Sonos Radio adds CD Quality stations to its Sonos Radio offering and rolls it out to five more countries. The new service called Sonos Radio HD streams ad-free with skips and repeats and is available now on the Sonos’ S2 app in the US and UK with additional countries to follow. Sonos owners can subscribe on sonos.com for $7.99/£7.99 per month after a free, one month trial. Both Sonos Radio and Sonos Radio HD are provided by Rhapsody’s ‘Powered by Napster’ service.

Sonos Radio HD launches with an expanded catalogue of original radio stations kicking off with Songteller Radio an original station featuring Dolly Parton that will continually evolve with Dolly’s hits, favourite artists, and special commentary on songs and moments throughout her career.

New Sonos Radio HD stations

  • Sonos Radio HD artist-curated stations – the first being Dolly Parton’s Songteller Radio, hosted and curated by Dolly. New Sonos Radio HD artist-curated stations will drop regularly, including five new stations planned for early 2021.
  • Deeper exploration into genres and music scenes with the help of curators and expert DJs including Nashville Now and Americana Ramble by Nashville-based music critic and author Ann Powers and iconic jazz performances on Unforgettable or Distant Kingdom for global retro R&B and soul.
  • Soundtracks for home – music for cooking, working, and relaxing to promote physical and mental wellbeing with original stations promoting mindfulness, productivity, and relaxation including The Inner NowChill Beats, and Mellow Morning.
  • Perfectly tuned sleep sounds with six sleep stations for any preference – white noise, pink noise, brown noise, rain, rainforest and piano – mastered by Sonos specifically for Sonos speakers for the most natural, calming sounds for a better night sleep. Fall asleep to the steady sound of rain without loops or interruptions, and set an alarm for a peaceful start to the day with Mellow Morning.

Sonos Radio, launched in April 2020, will continue its free service offering more than 60,000 broadcast radio stations and has been extended to a further five countries – Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium.

Sonos Radio is automatically added to all new Sonos systems but if you have an existing Sonos system you will need to update your app to version 11.1 or later to access Sonos Radio. Find more information on how to listen to Sonos Radio, including regional availability go here.
