YouTube Music and YouTube Music Premium launches in Nigeria as part of its continuing worldwide rollout to replace Google Play Music. Google has been under criticism that YouTube Music is less feature rich and less available than Google Play Music and this has seen a flurry of additional countries and features deployed on the YouTube Music platform. Recent additions have been the ability to upload and play your music collection with the YouTube Music app and personalised playlists.
Google Play Music subscribers will automatically receive access to YouTube Music Premium at their current price. Nothing is changing with Google Play Music and you’ll still be able to access all of your purchased music, uploads and playlists in Google Play Music as always.
In addition to the usual YouTube Music and Music Premium features there are some localised playlists like ‘RELEASED’ to discover new music or ‘Afrobeats Hotlist’.
While fans can enjoy the new ad-supported version of YouTube Music for free, the paid subscription YouTube Music Premium, is available for [N900] a month with a month’s free trial. A Family plan at [N1,400] a month is also available.
