Upload Your Music beta

Spotify has announced a new beta feature that enables independent artists to upload their music to Spotify – directly from Spotify for Artists. One of the top requested features since Spotify for Artists was launched is the ability to upload music directly onto Spotify. The company has been testing an upload tool within Spotify for Artists and is now inviting more artists to participate in a public beta.

Spotify has worked with a handful of independent artists – like Noname, Michael Brun, VIAA, and Hot Shade – to make sure that it met the needs of independent artists.

How upload in Spotify for Artists works

Artists will deliver music straight to Spotify and plan for the perfect release day. They will see a preview of exactly how things will appear to listeners before submission and when the music goes live, it will still be possible to edit track metadata.

The system will pay royalties in the same way as releasing through any other partner. Payments will be paid monthly direct to the artists’ bank account and they will also be able to access reports of how much their streams are earning right next to the other insights that are on Spotify for Artists. Uploading is free to all artists and Spotify won’t charge any fees or commissions no matter how frequently they release music.

Spotify for Artists public beta

Currently, upload in Spotify for Artists is only available by invitation to a few hundred US-based independent artists, but this is to be extended to more artists, labels, and teams in the future. For those who are interested in joining this public beta, you can sign up and register your interest. Further details can be found here.
